One of London’s leading publishing houses are looking for a bright graduate, ideally with a year’s commercial experience to join as a Sales & Marketing Executive.

Salary: £19,000 – £24,000

The Role

  • Liaison with the distributor, preparing and providing sales materials as required
  • Writing and sending the weekly newsletter in liaison with Production Director
  • Liaison with and support for our publicist around the launch of each book
  • Prepare and submit titles to Bookseller and buyers guides ahead of submission dates
  • Developing the company’s online presence; setting up procedure to exploit YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and other digital activity
  • Improving our SEO rankings, using Google ads
  • Manage title presence on Amazon: monitoring rankings and customer reviews of titles; resolving errors
  • Work with website designer to optimise/update website
  • Liaise with outside designer for any agreed microsites for selected titles
  • Liaise with authors for planning publicity/PR campaigns; ensure author questionnaires are filled and author connections/opportunities/online presence are exploited
  • Other marketing, pr, publicity and consumer-facing activity as required
  •  Sales support for clients in English Language territories as directed for both new and special sales
  • Reprint support and closing including price quoting and deal negotiation
  • Organisation of appointments for book fairs and sales trips, including logistics of such as necessary preparation of material, both in hard-copy and uploading of digital material
  • Checking sales material for errors and revising where necessary
  • Attendance at London Book Fair and at certain special sales meetings such as The Book People

Key Skills/Experience

  • Ideally degree educated with a good academic background
  • Excellent written skills
  • Previous marketing experience or the ability to demonstrate a genuine interest in the latest trends in marketing
  • A genuine interest in literature/books is essential
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Digitally savvy with a solid understanding of the latest platforms/technologies
  • Clear and professional telephone manner and the ability to confidently speak to clients
